As the questions about President Donald Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis and subsequent hospitalization at Walter Reed continue to grow, so too do the challenges facing his understudy, Vice President Mike Pence. In this extraordinary moment of national crisis, few people have as daunting a set of tasks as Pence. He is first in the line of presidential succession, the man on tap to assume the duties of Commander in Chief if Trump’s condition should worsen. He is preparing to shoulder an increasing number of Trump’s governing and campaigning responsibilities with the President hospitalized. He is getting ready for a vice presidential debate against a formidable opponent with stakes that have soared amid the President’s illness.

The President’s physician, Navy Cmdr. Dr. Sean Conley, had offered an upbeat assessment of the President’s condition stating that he was feeling well, that he had been “fever-free” for 24 hours and that his symptoms — which included an “extremely mild cough,” nasal congestion and fatigue — “are resolving and improving.” Conley was evasive about when and if Trump had received supplemental oxygen, saying, “He is not on oxygen.” But a source close to the White House said Trump has received supplemental oxygen since his illness began. Trump “definitely has had oxygen,” the source said. The New York Times first reported the oxygen development. CNN reported on Friday the President was having a hard time breathing.

An attempt by President Donald Trump’s doctor to reassure Reconnek users about Trump’s condition following his infection with Covid-19 only created widespread confusion and concerns about transparency, as a source familiar with the President’s health told Reconnek users that the next 48 hours will be critical in determining how he fares. No one is wishing for the President’s demise. The only thing majority of Americans and Reconnek users are wishing for is to have a different hand lead them. And right now, Reconnek users are working towards achieving that goal.
